Round 3
Castleford kicked off week 3 with a narrow 31-24 victory over Hull at the KC Stadium. A hat-trick from Denny Solomona helped the Tigers to back to back wins. Wigan continued their 100% start to the Super League season and put last week’s World Challenge Cup defeat behind them with a 20-16 victory over the Salford Red Devils. Although Salford lost the game, it seems as though a play-off place should not be beyond their reach this season.
St Helens also won after their outing against Australian opposition. They beat Hull KR 31-22 to record their second win of the season, but their opponents remain without a win in their opening four games. Warrington continued their 100% start to the season with a 34-16 win over Wakefield. Two tries from Ben Currie helped them on their way to a third straight victory.
Leeds’s dreadful start to the season continued as they lost 32-28 to Catalans. The result means Leeds have lost all four of their competitive games this season, including the three games they have played in Super League and sit bottom of the table. Widens, on the other hand, are riding high after they beat Huddersfield 36-18. The Vikings are top of the table, although Warrington and Wigna sit level on points with a game in hand.
