Another strong performance from the Foxes earned them a convincing win at the Etihad Stadium as they made a huge step towards Premier League glory.

A late goal from Sergio Aguero gave Manchester City a consolation but goals from Robert Huth and Riyad Mahrez led Leicester to another victory.

The Foxes entered the game already at the top of the league and while all those associated with the club are keeping their feet firmly on the ground, any result at the Etihad would have put them well in the race for the title.

They got off to the perfect start when Huth converted Mahrez’s free-kick after just three minutes with the help of a deflection; an early indicator of the Foxes’ attacking intentions.

Man City rarely threatened the visitors’ defence up until the latter stages of the first half with a spell of pressure.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side’s inability to break down the Leicester back line was punished in the second half.

Less than three minutes of the half were played when another quick start from Leicester resulted in a goal. Mahrez added to his earlier assist with a trademark step-over and a composed finish to make it 2-0.

Claudio Ranieri’s men were growing in confidence as the game went on and Huth stepped up once again to score his second of the game. The German defender has scored in some big games for Leicester and the two today could prove to be his most significant.

There was time for Man City to grab a consolation goal through Aguero. Despite a hint of offside the Argentine was able to head in Bersant Celina’s delivery.

Each time Leicester have been doubted this season they have fought back stronger and proved the critics wrong. They made a huge statement in this game and it looks as though they will be taking the title race down to the wire.

They are five points clear at the top of the Premier League table and have a 13-point lead over Manchester United in 5th, who play Chelsea on Sunday.

Arsenal are up next for Leicester but this win over Man City will give the Foxes a massive amount of self-belief ahead of the trip to the Emirates.
