Louis Oosthuizen has won the Perth International, finishing one shot ahead of Frenchman Alexander Levy. The 33-year-old South African, who won The Open back in 2010, held his nerve in the final round to see off a late charge from Levy.

Oosthuizen put daylight between himself and his opponents with a second round score of 8-under-par. He followed this up with a third round score of 5-under-par to put himself in a strong position going into the final round. Although his final round score was just on-under-par, he did enough to hold off Levy and Jason Scrivener, who finished third.

This year’s field was devoid of big name golfers, but the close finish made for an exciting tournament all the same. Levy will be disappointed he failed to make more of an impression in his first three rounds He came into the final round with of nine-under-par, six shots behind Oosthuizen. Although he closed the gap to just one shot by the end of the tournament, the uphill task of making wiping out the deficit proved too much.

Oosthuizen will be hoping the victory marks a turnaround in fortunes. Despite coming close to winning a second Open title in 2015, he had not won a tournament for over two years. He will be hoping this win will lead to further success in Majors this year, as he seeks to get back to his best.
