Leicester Riders have won the BBL Trophy after beating Newcastle Eagles 85-77 in a narrow win. The two sides have dominated the league this season, but it Leicester who have won the cup after Great Britain captain Andrew Sullivan scored 22 points.
Elsewhere, in the league Cheshire Phoenix beat Surrey Scorchers 89-88 in a thrilling game. The win sees Cheshire move into the play-off places, while Surrey remain second bottom. Leeds Force remain in the hunt for a play-off place after they beat bottom of the table Manchester 84-70. Manchester have now lost 18 of their 23 games so far this season.
Leicester will next be in action in the league next Saturday when they take on Surrey. Newcastle will be hoping to put the defeat behind them when they take on the London Lions. After dominating the early stages of season, Newcastle have struggled in recent weeks and no longer look unbeatable.
Other games next week include Plymouth taking Sheffield, Leeds playing Worcester and Glasgow coming up against Manchester. The table is still finely poised with only eight points separating seventh placed Plymouth and bottom of the table Manchester.
