Andy Murray will face fellow Brit Liam Broady in his opening match at Wimbledon, as the world number two seeks his third grand slam title of his career and second triumph at SW19.
Should Murray progress further, he could play Yen Hsun-Lu, Benoit Paire and Nick Kyrgios before booking a potential quarterfinal meeting against Richard Gasquet. Stan Wawrinka lurks as a possible semi-final opponent for Murray but if the Brit is able to reach the final, then he could face world number one Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer for the title.
On the other side of the draw, defending champion Novak Djokovic, who is on track to achieving the Calendar Slam, plays James Ward in his opener and could meet another Brit in Kyle Edmund in the second round. But, the world number one may need to overcome Milos Raonic in a tough quarterfinal and Roger Federer in a blockbuster semi-final if he is to make it through to the final.
Meanwhile, Federer, who has lost to Djokovic in the last two SW19 finals, will get his campaign for an eighth title at the grass court tournament underway against Guido Pella, and his section of the draw includes Alexandr Dolgopolov, Gilles Simon, Gael Monfils and Kei Nishikori, who could play Federer in the quarters.
On the women’s side, Serena Williams may need to navigate past Christina McHale, Kristina Mladenovic, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Roberta Vinci before setting up a potential semi-final against Agnieszka Radwanska. If the American world number one does go on to reach the final, she may face either her sister Venus, Angelique Kerber, Simona Halep, or Garbine Muguruza, who are all placed on the opposite side of the draw.
As for the other Brits, Aljaz Bedene will play last year’s semi-finalist Richard Gasquet and Kyle Edmund takes on another Frenchman in Adrian Mannarino. In addition, Dan Evans will meet Jan Lennard Struff whilst Alex Ward faces a tough opener against David Goffin.
Johanna Konta will play Monica Puig in her first round match and Heather Watson takes on Annika Beck but could face Serena Williams again in the third round, just like last year. However, Laura Robson was dealt a difficult opening encounter against Angelique Kerber, whilst Naomi Broady plays Elina Svitolina.
