Eden Hazard has claimed that he will stay at Chelsea next season, ruling out any potential move to PSG or Real Madrid.
After a below par year, the 2014/15 PFA player of the season has seen his price tag fall dramatically. But in the final few games, we saw glimpses of Hazard at his best and Chelsea will have been desperate to keep hold of the Belgian.
The late season form of the Chelsea attacker re-ignited interest from Paris Saint German and Real Madrid who have been on his tail for a few seasons now. With Chelsea out of Europe for next season, many expected it to be a struggle for Antonio Conte to keep hold of Hazard, but he handed PSG a massive blow in an interview today as he confirmed his intention to stay with the Blues.
Following the injury to Vincent Company, Hazard is set to captain Belgium at the European Championships in France. He joined the then European Champions, Chelsea in 2012 and has gone from stride to stride. Last year Hazard was a pivotal part of Chelsea’s superb season, helping them to the Premier League title and League cup, contributing 19 goals and 11 assists.
But this season he was almost unrecognisable. There was an entire calendar year between Hazard scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace to secure the title for Chelsea in 2015, and his next Premier League goal against Bournemouth in April. However he then went on to score three goals in four games in a brief return to his best. This included scoring the decisive goal in the premier league for the second year running, as his crisp finish into the top corner sunk Tottenham and handed the title to Leicester City
PSG especially have been interested in the Chelsea man since he first joined the Blues. This year it seemed he was destined to join them in order to play Champions League football again, but the Belgian has thrown a spanner in the works by ruling out any move this summer and committing his future to Antonio Conte’s blues.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Hazard will stay at Chelsea?
