Leicester City have completed the signing of Ahmed Musa from CSKA Moscow to break the club-record transfer fee for the second time this week.

The 23-year-old forward has joined the Foxes for around £16 million, snubbing the likes of Southampton, Everton and West Ham United to become the Premier League champions’ fourth signing of the summer.

Nampalys Mendy became Leicester’s record buy earlier in the week after he was bought for over £10 million from Nice but the deal for Musa was always expected to surpass that price.

He has been on the Leicester books for a while and was linked with the Foxes in January, yet CSKA’s asking price was slightly higher than the now agreed £16 million.

Musa’s decision to start a new chapter in English football came after he helped his side win the Russian title last season.

The Nigerian international joined CSKA back in 2012 and went on to find the net 54 times in 168 appearances.

One of his most memorable performances for his national side came in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Musa scored twice as Nigeria were defeated 3-2 by Argentina.

Claudio Ranieri’s side are currently preparing for their title defence and after the additions of goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, defender Luis Hernandez, Mendy and Musa, it looks as though the Foxes are developing a strong squad to feature in the Champions League.

Musa is blessed with pace and attacking prowess; seemingly a perfect fit in a side containing Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez for those swift Leicester counter-attacks.

While the future of N’Golo Kante is still uncertain it appears the Leicester squad will remain intact, bolstering their options for the four competitions they’ll be involved in next season.

The versatility of Musa allows him to play as a striker or on the wing suggesting Ranieri has the option to continue with the 4-4-2 formation or opt for a front three of Musa, Vardy and Mahrez.
