Manor have announced that Esteban Ocon will replace Rio Haryanto for the rest of the 2016 season.
The British team terminated Haryanto’s contract as he was unable to meet contractual obligations. However, Manor have offered the Indonesian driver a reserve spot for the rest of the season.
Esteban Ocon leaves Mercedes in DTM to drive for the rest of the season in Manor. The-19-year-old has been the test/reserve driver for Renault this year, and is also part of Mercedes young driver programme.
The Frenchman will race alongside 2015 DTM Champion, Pascal Wehrlein, who scored Manor’s first points of the season in Austria.
Despite Ocon racing in DTM this season, the driver does have open wheel racing experience, notably, winning the GP3 series championship in 2015 where he finished on the podium in 14 out of 18 races.
