The PDC Pro Tour rolled into the Barnsley Metrodome this weekend for round 11 and 12 of the Players Championship with Saturday’s tournament won by the in-form Dave Chisnall whilst Sunday’s tournament was won by ‘Snakebite’ Peter Wright.
Saturday’s Players Championship 11 saw 128 of the PDC’s finest battle it out as they gear up for the final push for qualification for July’s World Matchplay at the Winter Garden’s in Blackpool.
There were early losses for a number of seeds including Mervyn King who was dumped out by former BDO finalist Alan Norris, whilst Aussie Simon Whitlock was defeated by Stuart Kellett another former BDO player.
There was better news for Robbie Green who switched to the PDC after the Lakeside World Championships in January and who has endured a tough start to his second stint in the PDC as he earned £750 with a run to the third round before he was beaten by the in-form Ian White, who would go on to hit a nine-darter in his semi-final win over Jamie Lewis.
Phil Taylor in a rare Pro Tour event reached the fourth round before being defeated by Ronnie Baxter and he was joined in a fourth round exit by Adrian Lewis, the number one seed who was beaten by Stephen Bunting.
Saturday’s winner Chisnall picked up the cheque for £10k with a 6-1 demolition of nine-dart hero Ian ‘Diamond’ White, continuing his recent form going into the summer’s events.
