Inverness Caledonian Thistle have won their first ever Scottish Cup after beating Falkirk at Hampden Park.
Having taken a first half lead, the Scottish Premier League side were in control until a second half Falkirk equaliser. Then, Inverness were reduced to ten men, but a late strike won the game.
The Premiership side took the lead shortly before the break when a clever through ball from Aaron Doran set up Marley Watkins, who rounded the Falkirk goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald to give them the lead.
Then with 15 minutes remaining, Inverness were reduced to ten men when Carl Tremarco was dismissed for bringing down Blair Alston.
Five minutes later, the Championship side equalised. Peter Grant nodded home to send the underdogs fans into raptures.
But then against the run of play, ten man Inverness found a winner, when MacDonald’s failure to hold on to the ball set up James Vincent who tapped home the winner.
It caps a remarkable season for Inverness and their manager John Hughes, who guided his side to their highest ever top-flight finish. A 3rd place finish in the SPL, qualification for the Europa League and the Scottish Cup success has rounded off an impressive campaign.
