5 Possible Future Manchester United Managers

It goes without saying that when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge at Old Trafford, this kind of debate would never had occurred but since his retirement we have seen Manchester United go through three managers (albeit one caretaker) and with the world renowned Louis Van Gaal not the youngest, the club will already be looking to the future and earmarking who could follow the Dutchman at Old Trafford.

Here at The Sports Lowdown we look at 5 possible candidates to either replace Van Gaal or manage the club further down the line in the future

1. Ryan Giggs

It goes without saying that Ryan Giggs will always be a legend at Old Trafford after a 24 year playing career at the club. Currently assistant to Van Gaal, the former Wales winger has already had a stint as caretaker boss of the club after the departure of David Moyes in 2014 and it was plainly obvious in that short spell that he had the respect of the squad and the performances of the side notably picked up.

There will always be some Red Devils fans that don’t want to see Giggs manage in the club in case he tarnishes his legacy and things don’t go well but they are in the minority and we expect the Welshman to be next in line at Old Trafford when Van Gaal eventually moves on.

There are some fans that would also like to see Giggs go and manage another club and gain the necessary experience that will only help to serve him at Manchester United. However Giggs was a one man club throughout his career and could arguably be another who stays at the club as manager for a long period should he achieve the success the club is after.

One thing for sure is that Giggs is working under a master in Van Gaal and having played under arguably Britain’s greatest ever manager in Ferguson, the Welshman is not going to be short of an idea or two. He will no doubt be in a better place to be Manchester United manager having worked under Van Gaal and before that Sir Alex and he could finish what Van Gaal looks to have started and that is a renaissance in the Premier League.
