5 Premier League footballers – careers halted by injury

  1. Abou Diaby

The 29 year old midfielder showed massive amounts of promise for Arsenal during the season since joining in 2006. However, since the 2007-08 season Diaby’s career has been littered with injuries such as a cruciate ligament injury – side-lining him for 14 months up to his latest being a calf injury last October.

Diaby hasn’t featured in this seasons Barclays Premier league and as a result the French midfielder has been released. Although, this doesn’t come as a shock to most football fans, it certainly is sad to see a player with such talent and promise fade out of first team football because of injury.

The midfielder is the only player out of this list not to have retired yet and I think I speak for most of football fans in hoping that Diaby can correct his injury and begin playing quality first team football yet again.
