Contenders for the US Open- Past Champions

Justin Rose

Rose’s first and only Major came at the US Open in 2013. The 34 year old Englishman has impressed in golf’s biggest tournaments in recent years, having not missed a cut at a Major since 2013. He also finished second earlier this year at The Masters.

Rose has been in decent form this year, winning The Zurich classic and finishing second at the Memorial Tournament earlier this month. The world number six is a golfer of immense talent and will be looking to add to the sole major he has won so far.

 

Webb Simpson

The only American to have won the tournament in the last five years, Simpson will have to improve on his current form if he is to win the title again.

He is currently ranked 41^st in the world and has only finished in the top ten of a tournament three times this year. Simpson has also missed the cut at three of his last five Majors, although historically he has fared best in The US Open. If Simpson can get into his groove early on, he will fancy his chances of causing an upset again this year.
