The PDC rolls into the Netherlands this weekend as the world’s top dart players look to take home the Dutch Darts Masters title, with Friday’s action previewed below.
The seeds will not take part in round one of the competition on Friday, and the day will belong to the UK Open qualifiers and the Thursday qualifiers on the first day in Venray in the fourth European Tour event of the year. All ties are the best of eleven legs.
Afternoon Session:
Daryl Gurney will be one of the first of the tournament to take to the stage, and he will be looking to stop his personal rot in the European Tour after being knocked out in the first round of the last two ET events in Gibraltar and Germany. He will face the winner of the sixth European qualifier.
Prakash Jiwa and John Henderson will face-off in the second match and Jiwa is set to pick up his biggest amount of prize money since November last year regardless of the result. Henderson on the other hand is climbing up towards the top 32 and will be looking to continue a good run that he is on.
Dave Pallet will begin his tournament against the fourth European qualifier, and had a good day at the ProTour a couple of weeks ago, making the last sixteen and picking up £1,500.
Brett Claydon will play William O’Connor in the first round, and latter will be looking to put a bad run to bed here with a win whilst Claydon hasn’t played in three weeks after playing in a European Darts Open UK Qualifier.
Johnny Clayton, who will be aiming to break into the PDC top 100 in the next few months, will face the winner of the third European qualifying match. The sixth match of the afternoon session will be between the first home nation qualifier and the third European qualifier.
The experienced Wayne Jones will face the young Josh Payne in the first round of the competition, and both will be looking to advanced and win some prize money as both have struggled in the last few events. ‘Rockstar’ Joe Cullen will round off the afternoon’s action against the third home national qualifier.
