Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain looks set to move to Old Trafford with reports suggesting that the two clubs have agreed a deal reportedly worth around £35 million.
Higuain, who has been a summer target for both Arsenal and Chelsea, is likely to earn £100,000 per week on the contract that the Red Devil’s have offered him.
Early reports say that Napoli, who paid £40 million for the Argentine striker in 2013, had already rejected a £27 million bid, but United returned with an improved offer.
There is no surprise as to why United manager Louis van Gaal is desperate to sign the Argentinian. Captain Wayne Rooney only scored 12 goals this season, whilst Robin van Persie added ten and on-loan flop Radamel Falcao scored just four.
Higuain has scored 35 goals in 67 appearances whilst in Italy, having scored 107 in 190 appearances during his six year spell with Real Madrid. He is just as prolific at international level, scoring 23 goals in 47 appearances for Argentina.
United clearly lacked goals this season, and the arrival of the Argentinian could spark a title challenging season. If Angel Di Maria remains at Old Trafford for next season, then Higuain will be reunited with his former Real Madrid and Argentina teammate.
