Leicester City have sacked three of their young squad members over the Thailand sex-tape scandal that rocked the club with Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and James Pearson having their contracts terminated.
The three squad members were on a promotional tour with other members of the squad in their owners native country when news broke of a sex-tape that had been obtained by the media that saw the three involved with prostitutes whilst also appearing to call them derogatory names.
All three were sent home from the tour with the club confirming they would be conducting an inquest into the scandal and all three have paid the price for their error of judgement. Hopper is a highly rated forward and was on the verge of breaking into the matchday squad whilst both Smith and Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson’s son James were major parts of the development squad.
Leicester City said in an official club statement “Leicester City Football Club is acutely aware of its position, and that of its players, as a representative of the city of Leicester, the Premier League, the Football Association and the Club’s supporters. It is committed to promoting a positive message of community and family values and equality, and to upholding the standards expected of a Club with its history, tradition and aspirations.”
