Manchester City have been rebuffed after a £25 million bid for unsettled Liverpool and England winger Raheem Sterling was rejected.
Sterling has been the source of much debate in recent weeks with his contract situation at Liverpool up in the air with many pundits across the football spectrum split on the future of the talented Englishman. Liverpool are reported to have offered Sterling £100,000 a week but the agent of the winger has laughed off this figure as derisory.
Many clubs have been monitoring the situation and the speculation seems to have affected both the player, who looked ordinary in England’s last match against the Republic of Ireland, and the fans opinions after a chorus of boos were heard at the ground.
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini look to have made the first move but will have to fork out much more for the dazzling wideman who has shone in his early career at Anfield. The side from the Etihad Stadium are looking to add to their ageing squad as they look to win back the title they recently lost to Chelsea.
Other clubs interested could be both Arsenal and Chelsea as well as clubs from abroad like Real Madrid and there is likely to be a bidding war if Liverpool do decide to cash in on their most prized asset, whilst the player is primed for having his head turned for a chance to challenge for a league title.
