5. Christiano Ronaldo
This is arguably a controversial choice but he is in because whilst he maybe did not have as big an impact in club terms, his talent is worth putting him into the top 5 alone and he has gone on to become probably the second best player in the world in his generation for Real Madrid and he could yet find himself back at Old Trafford for a final swansong in the future.
Ronaldo joined the club from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 for £12.24 million and though it would take him a while to settle at the club, he began to find his feet in the mid-2000s. The Man Utd faithful were often dazzled by the pin-up boy’s talent and was a constant thorn in many a side. Though he had a penchant for the odd red card here and there, the fans took to the Portuguese star and even after the infamous 2006 World Cup winking incident involving Wayne Rooney, the fans continued to back Ronaldo.
His talent began to take on towards the next level at the end of his days at the club and when Real Madrid came calling, there was little doubt that the star would turn his trade to La Liga. He made it clear in 2007 that he was interested in joining Madrid and though he signed a contract to stay at Old Trafford, by 2009 it was clear his time in English football was up for now.
