Former West Ham number two Neil McDonald has been appointed as manager of League One side Blackpool.
The Bloomfield Road club have been in turmoil since their relegation from the Premier League in 2011 and were dumped to the third tier of English football after finishing twenty points from safety in the Championship last season.
Former Huddersfield boss Lee Clark resigned at the end of the season after failing to save the side from relegation, amidst working conditions that would have seen many a manager leave beforehand.
Chairman Karl Oyston has been at loggerheads with the clubs fans throughout the season, with the Tangerines faithful accusing the chairman of not caring about the club.
McDonald had been Sam Allardyce’s number two at the Hammers but left alongside Allardyce at the end of the season, and has now branched out for a second stint in management after previously being in charge at Carlisle United.
McDonald told the Blackpool club website “I’m excited to be a number one. I’ve waited my turn. This is a massive football club so it’s a challenge that I am really up for.”
