The Sports Lowdown For All Your News and OpinionsWorld Number one Michael van Gerwen will be looking to make it five wins from five tournaments on the PDC European Tour in Riesa after making it four from four just a couple of weeks ago in Venray.
‘Mighty Mike’ will be the number one seed for the tournament whilst Peter Wright and fourteen others seeds will enter the tournament in the second round on Saturday. Big names such as Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis will again not feature in the European Tour as they prepare for the Japan Darts Masters next week.
The Host Nation Qualifiers, the European Qualifiers and the UK Open Qualifiers will all do battle on Friday to make it through to the second round where they will face one of the seeds on Saturday. The HNQ and the EQ will be decided on Thursday night and will join twenty UK Open Qualifiers in the first round.
