St Helens enjoyed a 30-14 victory over rivals Wigan in a repeat of last year’s Grand Final. The win propelled the Saints to the top of the league while Wigan remain in third.

Leeds’ lost their spot at the top of the table after losing to 24-31 to Castleford who consolidated their place in the top eight with the victory. Catalans beat Hull FC in a close match as the French side moved two points clear of their opponents following their eighth win of the season.

In the battle of bottom two teams, Salford ended their poor run of results by beating bottom side Wakefield 24-16. The win keeps the Red Devil’s slim hopes of reaching the play-offs alive, while Wakefield now look certain to finish bottom of the table. Hull Kingston Rovers beat Widnes 38-16, but both teams remain outside the top eight places.

Huddersfield beat Warrington 30-19 to move above their opponents in the table. The Giants are now up to fourth after enduring a poor start to the season, and both teams will fancy their chances of competing when the league splits in six weeks’ time.

This is the first season the format of the league has changed, with the top eight teams continuing in the Super League and the bottom four teams joining the top four teams from the Championship. Therefore it is more important than ever that teams perform well in the regular season to automatically retain their top-tier status and to have the chance to reach the Super League Grand Final.
