On a dramatic night of speedway in Vojens, Team Great Britain bowed out of the competition, falling behind to winners Poland.
Team GB captain Tai Woffinden scored a fantastic 21 point maximum, but it wasn’t enough as his side finished five points behind the Poles, who scored 48 on the night.
Poland head into Saturday’s final with current champions Denmark, Event 1 winners Sweden and Event 2 winners Australia.
Team GB boss Alun Rossiter admitted his side fell short against a youthful Polish side, who were without their team captain, Jaroslaw Hampel, following his crash in Event 1.
Rossiter added that he was very proud if his team, with Woffy riding a maximum, and 17 year old debutant Robert Lambert scoring eight points, including two race wins.
He said: “We were not quite strong enough really in the end, if we’re quite honest. The Poles were strong all the way through and didn’t make that many mistakes. It has been a good week, though.
“Woffy was absolutely outstanding. He was on fire and just left everybody behind really. Robert certainly did really well and it was great to work with him this week.
“There’s all the hoo-ha about him and the whole world is watching. He handed that pressure very well. He has an old head on young shoulders.”
The USA finished third on 22 points, whilst three man Russia came last with just 11 points.
