Two years ago Tottenham Hotspur sold Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in a world-record transfer fee of £85 million. Although Bale has failed to fully win over the Real fans, he has enjoyed success with the Madrid-based club, winning four trophies including the Champions League.
However, Spurs have endured a relatively unsuccessful couple of seasons following the arrivals of seven new players bought with the proceeds of the Bale transfer. Despite reaching a League Cup final in 2015, they have finished 6th and 5th in the last two seasons of the Premier League, failing to reach the Champions League.
