Woods aims to rediscover form

Tiger Woods has vowed to continue playing competitive golf this summer in a bid to improve his world ranking.

Woods suffered a nightmare time at Memorial Tournament last week after he shot a round of 13-over-par, his worst ever professional score, in the third round of the tournament as finished in last position.

Woods is currently ranked 181st in the world and the former World No.1 has struggled with an array of injury problems in recent years, which caused him to miss last year’s Ryder Cup. He has not won a tournament since 2013 and has not won a major since 2008.

Woods is no longer seen as golf’s biggest star, with Rory McIlroy having taken on the mantle as ‘the man to beat’ following four major wins in the last four years. Fellow Americans Rickie Fowler and Jordan Speith have also emerged as stars on the world stage.

At the age of 39, Woods could still return to the form that saw him win 14 Majors and dominate the sport for the best part of a decade. He has also recovered from a low ranking before, as he found himself outside of the top fifty places back in 2011.
