Defending champions Yorkshire have closed the gap on early season leaders Durham to 11 points after they beat Middlesex by four wickets in the County Championship.
Yorkshire have been hampered by a string of England call-ups for key players including Joe Root, Gary Ballance, Adam Lyth, Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid. Despite this, they are unbeaten in six games this season and have a game in hand on leaders Durham.
Despite Yorkshire’s win, Durham hung on to top spot and continued their impressive start to the season with a win over Somerset, while Hampshire recorded their first win of the season, beating Sussex by six wickets.
In Division Two Leicestershire were unable to build on their victory in the last round of games, losing out to promotion contenders Surrey, while Derbyshire beat bottom side Kent in a low scoring game at Canterbury to move into mid table.
