With the new season just under two weeks away, Leicester City need to act fast to find a new midfielder following Esteban Cambiasso’s decision not to sign a new contract with the club.
The 34-year-old Argentine released a statement last week saying: “I have taken this decision only 24 hours after receiving the proposal from Leicester because I want to give the club as much time as possible to find an alternative.”
It can be said that Cambiasso will not be replaced as such, for he was an instrumental figure both on and off the pitch for the Foxes last season. Whoever comes in will have a difficult task of filling the shoes of a player of Cambiasso’s stature and aptitude, but manager Claudio Ranieri has stated he would like to sign another leader and hopes to have a replacement by the start of the season.
Leicester have already been linked with a number of players from clubs around Europe and with the prospect of first team Premier League football on offer, they will be hoping to interest their targets.
