2. John Part
The former three time Champion of the world is a shadow of his former self and no longer is able to compete at the top table in the PDC. We are no experts but it can’t help that he continues to go backwards and forwards across the pond, which certainly doesn’t help his lifestyle.
Part burst onto the scene at the 1994 Lakeside BDO World Championships which he would go onto win 6-0 victory over Bobby George, taking advantage of the split in the sport which saw the world’s best players move across to play in the WDC (now the PDC).
His early career in the PDC after moving over saw him fail to make any kind of an impact but at the turn of the century, we began to see the player Part would become and in 2003 he would break the monopoly of recent World Championships and defeat Phil Taylor 7-6 to lift the crown.
Another period of poor form occurred after this, bar a 2006 win in the Las Vegas Dessert Classic and he seemed to be on the wind down in the PDC. By the 2008 World Championships he came in as the 11th seed but would go onto win the title once again, taking advantage of some shock early exits in the tournaments of some of the favourites for the title to defeat Kirk Shepherd 7-2 in a one-sided final to win a third world crown.
Since then, the continued poor form that inflicted him has continued though up until this year he had maintained his place in the worlds top 32. Now he finds himself languishing around the 45 mark in the PDC rankings and a move across to the BDO to finish his career would be a great swansong for the Canadian. He will no doubt forge a career in the commentary box, where he is highly though of by darts fans but there is no doubting he has the ability to still win a BDO World title.
