Analysing Chelsea’s Champions League Group.

Chelsea will be the most pleased of all the Premier League sides with their Champions League group, avoiding all of the big guns and what looks like a straight forward passage through to the latter stages of the competition.

After their disappointing showing in last seasons’ competition Jose will be hopeful of a much stronger challenge this season. The addition of Pedro will greatly improve their attacking options, and will help take the pressure of Hazard.

Chelsea have made a sluggish start to the season, and that’s probably largely down to their shorter pre-season, but there were glimpses of the Chelsea of early last season against West Bromich Albion on Sunday. They should be back up to full fitness and their best form in the coming weeks.

With Pedro and Eden Hazard on either wing they have an attack that will cause teams a lot of problems. Jose will be hoping Diego Costa’s hamstring doesn’t cause him too much trouble, as even with the addition of Falcao they still look light in attack. The possible addition of Paul Pogba would make Chelsea a much tougher opponent.

With a few additions still possible Chelsea should have a far more competitive squad then last season. With Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Hazard in the team they have the ability to break down any defence. Diego Costa will always give defenders a hard time.
