PSV Eindhoven – Champions of Holland

PSV Eindhoven won their first Dutch title since 2008 in the 2014/15 season as Phillip Cocu’s side won the Eredivisie by a massive 17 points from rivals Ajax, losing only four games across the season. Cocu, the former Dutch midfielder with over 100 caps to his name has been in charge at the Philips Stadion since taking over as caretaker in 2012.

Last season they were helped by the form of winger Memphis Depay as he bagged 28 goals across all competitions on their way to winning the title, but sold him to Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United during the summer and will come up against their former protege in Europe.

Also on form for PSV last season was their captain Luuk De Jong, a former Newcastle United loanee, who bagged 26 goals across all competitions and he will spearhead their attack in Europe and hope to hit the goals to send PSV through to the second stage.

At the back they are controlled by former Chelsea youth player Jeffrey Bruma who has gone on to force his way into the international reckoning and at just 23 years of age, will be a big player over the course of the Champions League campaign if they are to make the latter stages.

Star Man and Player to Look our for  – Luciarno Narsingh

With both Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum both now deaprted from last season’s title winning side, PSV will need to add the firepower to play alongside De Jong. Narsingh is an improving player and has recently returned to the Dutch national side and is strong playing out on either flank and providing assists for PSV. Where he will need to improve is on the goalscoring front having been overshadowed by Depay and De Jong last season, but if he can add that to his game, a move to a bigger club could be on hand.
