PDC World Cup of Darts: Day Three Review

Scotland v Hungary

World Champion Gary Anderson and ‘Snakebite’ Peter Wright gave Scotland a 2-0 win over Hungary to move into contention. Anderson took the opening tie 4-2 over Nandor Bezzeg before Wright whitewashed Gabor Takacs 4-0.

Netherlands v South Africa

Defending champions the Netherlands beat a plucky South African side 2-0 with both teams given a rapturous entrance. World Number One Michael Van Gerwen took the opening tie 4-0 over Graham Filby before Raymond Van Barneveld beat fan favourite Devon Petersen 4-1 to move into the quarter-finals.

England v Japan

England were comfortable 2-0 winners over Japan with Phil Taylor taking the first tie 4-0 against Haruki Muramatsu. The ‘Power’ was in imperious form to break Muramatsu twice before Adrian Lewis ensured England had no trouble making the quarter-finals with a 4-1 win over Morihiro Hashimoto.

Austria v Germany

In what was deemed the tie of the round Germany beat neighbours Austria 2-0 to move into contention on the final day in front of their home crowd. Jyhan Artut took a final leg decider 4-3 against youngster Rowby-John Rodriguez before Max Hopp sent the home fans delirious with a 4-2 win over the normally reliable ‘Gentleman’ Mensur Suljovic.

Scotland 2-0 Hungary                                                            Netherlands 2-0 South Africa

England 2-0 Japan                                                                  Germany 2-0 Austria
