3. William Carvalho
Portuguese star Carvalho has already represented the senior side 12 times, including at last year’s World Cup. At the age of 23, he is still eligible for the Under-21 side and if Portugal are to progress in the tournament, the six foot midfielder will be crucial for them. Carvalho has long been linked with a transfer from his current club Sporting Lisbon, with Arsenal and Manchester United said to be monitoring him.
4. Bernardo Silva
Winger Silva was signed by French club AS Monaco for £15.75 million from Benfica in January, despite having only played once for the Portuguese side. Silva had spent the first half of the season on loan at Monaco, scoring twice in 15 appearances. After signing permanently, he found the net a further seven times in 17 games. Silva will be one of Portugal’s biggest goals threats at the tournament and he will be aiming to live up to his ever-growing reputation.
