At the Sports Lowdown We’ve already looked at the 10 worst kits in Premier League history. Now it’s time to look at the 5 worst goalkeeping kits ever worn in the Premier League and they are truly horrendous.
Chelsea FC – 1993
Chelsea’s Dimitri Kharine with his black trousers rolled into white socks only perpetuates how hideous this shirt really is. It’s hard to know where to begin when describing this shirt; it really is an absolute mishmash of colours and random patterns. Terrible.
Newcastle United FC – 1995-96
Everything about this monstrosity is wrong. You can only feel for the likes of Shaka Hislop who were forced to put on this shocker every week. However, Newcastle only concede 37 goals in that Premier League season, so the kit in no way reflected the goalkeeping performance that year.
Sheffield Wednesday FC 1996-97
The 1990’s appears to be a hot bed for team kits as well as goalkeeper kits and this blue and yellow horror certainly follows the trend; it’s only made worse by the person wearing it – the odd looking Kevin Pressman.
Aston Villa FC – 1993-95
Villa have had a nightmare with this kit made by Asics; it’s made worse with the huge red Muller sponsor which only adds to the rest of the confusion of colours on the shirt.
Blackburn Rovers FC 1994
Tim Flowers must have felt thoroughly embarrassed wearing this shirt which highly resembles children’s wrapping paper. What were the Blue and Whites thinking?
