QPR have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of unsettled Morocco international Adel Taarabt who has joined Portuguese giants Benfica on a five year deal.
The former Spurs midfielder appeared just eight times as QPR were relegated from the Premier League and has moved to the Estadio De Luz looking to revive a promising career that had stalled at Loftus Road.
Taarabt had been a controversial character for the R’s and had spent part of the 2013/14 season out on loan at both Fulham and Italian giants AC Milan after criticism from then manager Harry Redknapp for being overweight and has long had question marks over the effort the exciting winger put in for the club.
Having played at White Hart Lane, Taarabt joined QPR in 2009 and the 26 year old had been one of the most sought after young players in the Premier League but effort and disputes have seen many of the sides that were keeping tabs on the Moroccan, look elsewhere and he moves to Portugal hoping to kick start his career.
