Striker – Sergio Aguero – Manchester City
The Argentine international has been a revelation at the club since moving into the Etihad Stadium following his move from Atletico Madrid in 2011. He has had his share of injuries and it’s no surprise that when Aguero goes down, so does City’s goal-scoring ability and form.
Aguero is the goal machine in the Premier League and last season he smashed 32 goals in only 40 appearances across all competitions, a quite remarkable standard. He has natural ability with both feet and isn’t shy of putting his head in to score goals either.
At 27 years of age, Aguero will be reaching his peak anytime now but this peak could go on for a number of years and he looks settled at the he club and has already got his tally underway for this season with a goal against Chelsea in theor 3-0 victory and along with the rest of the squad, they have turned the title race wide pen already despite pundits predicting another Chelsea masterclass.
Striker – Diego Costa – Chelsea
Another of the Premier League foreign legion, Costa has been just what Chelsea needed after a couple of season’s in the doldrums losing out to the Manchester side’s in the early part of the decade. The Blues were missing that striker that could score the goals that were required if they were to be a part of a Premier League title winning side.
Having put Chelsea to sword in the Champions League in 2013/14 for Atletico Madrid, Jose mourinho snapped him up, once his return to Stamford Bridge was confirmed and it was a move that Chelsea fans were delighted with thanks to his reputation for scoring goals.
His first season was impressive, weighing in with 21 goals across all competitions and he will want to better that this year as Chelsea look to defend their title. Costa does have injury problems which can cut his appearances down but when he is fit, he is deadly in the opponent’s box and knows where the goals is. At 26 years of age, he will only improve and if he can get fully fit, then the Premier League opposition will need to look out!
Manager – Jose Mourinho – Chelsea
Though Manuel Pellegrini has been successful at the Etihad Stadium, there was only one manager we could choose to look after this combined XI and it was the Portuguese self-title the ‘Special One’ Now back in his second stint at Stamford Bridge after time away at both Inter Milan and Real Madrid, Mourinho is never far short of controversy and takes the pressure off his players with his words.
He is arrogant and says what he feels but the Premier league have generally warmed to Mourinho even if it is sometimes tiring listening to his rantings. The media love him, despite sometimes clashing with him, as they know they will always get some golden words tripping from his mouth.
But it isn’t always about his mouth, as he is able to back up everything that he does and win the title for Chelsea in his first season at both stints at the club. He has won the Champions League twice, though he is yet to do it with Chelsea and has won league titles in both Spain and Italy. His tactical knowledge is second to none and he is wily in the transfer market too and so he is the only man to be able to manage this bunch of world class internationals.
